“original_negative is a summer EP that will be released on the 4th of July holiday, in celebration of America’s 250th Birthday, because of my love for the “We The People” United States of America, that is a Republic, and that was founded upon this amazing idea! This EP is also for all the “We The People” Citizens of The World inclusively with all love, life and peace from an American Poet,” Billy Lamont said.
Billy Lamont is a NY based American poet, an experimental multimedia performance poet, recording artist, and spoken word artist, with a reformer spirit, and an international reach. He has been interviewed and featured on national television a number of times, and he has toured and performed multiple dates as part of Lollapalooza Festival for three different years.
Lamont’s new EP titled original_negative is to be released on the 4th of July holiday in celebration of America’s 250th Birthday! It is a powerful and timely companion to his latest book of poetry peripheral view: soul songs for the strobe light generation 2020-2025, that was published in December 2025 and enjoying a lot of success. peripheral view: soul songs for the strobe light generation 2020-2025 is a successor to Lamont’s earlier above ground poetry collections: The Gallery Of Light, strobe light generation, and Words Ripped From A Soul Still Bleeding: Poems For The Future Edition, as now original_negative is to his most acclaimed albums and EPs : Into The 21st Century, billy lamont with the peculiar people, the gallery of light, and Beyond Babylon.
original_negative is an EP of Lamont’s passionate and raw performance poetry with electronic music by Luke Haughwout, expressed as soulful, minimalist, sacred pop art, in it’s recordings, as well as the graphic design by Christopher “Circuit” Kelly, with a downtown NYC flavor.
Lamont said, “This ep’s theme of personal freedom, amid growing concerns about oppression of human rights of ‘We The People’ Citizens of America and The World, is from a perspective that major business corporations and governments, are using authoritarian overreach into everyday people’s personal lives, and to co-opt governments, to make even greater financial riches. Also, the point of view is that this is happening from all sides to an extreme, sometimes in clear view, most times secretly, to serve the 1% rich, and to gain total control over populations locally and globally, in our age of globalization. This combined with dangerous, dehumanizing new technological advances, such as artificial intelligence, that need serious and fast emergency regulations, is the backdrop for the poetry and music.”
From the beginnings of his career, the brilliant and inspirational Mike Peters of The Alarm and the legendary Allen Ginsberg.showed love and support for Lamont’s work by collaborating on the title track of his first EP album Into The 21st Century, that was a benefit for Teen Challenge, and that contained an audio sample of an early Ginsberg recital of his iconic Beat Generation epic poem Howl.
Lamont was awarded a Guinness World Record for his poetry performance contribution to a benefit song for Love Hope Strength Foundation and those fighting cancer, that was recorded by LHS Co-Founder Mike Peters of The Alarm in 2014, and was the ‘longest officially released song ever.’ This song titled The Scriptures was written as a seed of peace for Muslims, Christians and Jews in The Holy Land.
“The original_negative ep’s hopeful message emphasizes the liberty in human imagination, soulful intuition, in relational community, and that we all have THE POWER TO DREAM!,” Lamont concluded.
