I was REALLY Feeling the recital of this poem, in this timing, at the WALT WHITMAN BIRTHPLACE One Week Ago On Sunday, September 22, 2024. As I was hearing the news that the war in The Holy Land appeared to be escalating today, I was alao scheduled to recite my poem I BELIEVE DREAM PEACE, written for Muslims, Christians & Jews in The Holy Land a few years back, and now appears in the newly release Bards Annual 2024 Poetry Anthology. The Holy Land and its children, woman, and men were heavy on my heart as I recited.

Thank You to the amazing poet, & my good friend JAY JII for thoughtfully videoing my recital. I Believe the video captured this raw moment sort of like capturing lightning striking in a bottle!

I Am Grateful to FATHER JOSH LICKTER and the ASSEMBLY FOR HUMAN RIGHTS for the nice article on their website about my new poem recital on behalf of JARNAIL KAUR & the suffering ADAVASI – FIRST NATION PEOPLE OF INDIA at the NYC POETRY FESTIVAL Thank You FATHER JOSHUA LICKTER for being the catalyst inspiration to my awareness for this poem.

My first performance video of this new poem is not only on the ASSEMBLY FOR HIMAN RIGHTS website, but also was emailed out to 14,000 supporters. I am very thankful that my humble poem, & first raw poetry recital of it, is being magnified on behalf of the Adavasi. i Praise GOD that in some small way I can help be a voice for those suffering, & that light is being shed on this horrible injustice. I pray that justice will prevail for Jarnail Kaur & the First Nation people of India, & Soon! <3

It was a Real Pleasure & Honor to have PERFORMED POETRY with the Stellar MATT PROCTOR & EASY PARADISE @easyparadisemag & The Talented ASHLEY D. ESCOBAR @quinoacowboys at this year’s NYC POETRY FESTIVAL 2024 at Governor’s Island, on SUNDAY, JULY 14TH at 1:30pm on the WHITE HORSE STAGE!!!

Before my set a young middle school poet/rapper that was in my Poetry Workshops in May/June came to the NYC POETRY FESTIVAL with his parent’s & brother had the opportunity to recite a short poem before I performed. His name is KABIR MATHUR @kabir_mathur248 , & he is a young INDIA AMERICAN POET that shows great promise! 🙂

As fate would have it directly following this I read a new poem I had written for the suffering INDIA Indigenous people ADAVASI for the first time publicly! A 100% Electricity moment for me! 🙂! Then i kicked in to my performance poetry set! Felt like in the moment punk jazz!

BILLY LAMONT BRIEF BIO For January 2023

Billy Lamont is a NY based American poet, spoken word artist, recording artist, and experimental multi-media performance poet with a reformer spirit, and international reach. He has performed on national television a number of times, including the Joe Franklin Show, MTV and Much Music Television, and has toured and performed with rock festivals such as Lollapalooza 1994, 1995, 2003, and appeared on major and college radio stations, and given book signings at major and independent bookstores across the U.S.

As a young man Lamont was part of a two week missionary team sent from Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle to Ukraine, in 1992, where he additionally did public speaking which included him reciting some of his poetry. This experience of spending time with the beautiful people of Ukraine resonates in Lamont’s heart and prayers extra brightly now, in this dark time of Putin led murderous invasion of Ukraine.

Lamont has recited his poems of comfort for families of September 11th, 2001 disaster In Union Square, NYC a few days after the tragedy, and in 2013 for victims of Hurricane Sandy in his then hometown of Babylon, NY.

He has recited his poems of justice on behalf of Jubilee 2000, and a debt free start for nations of the global south at The Knitting Factory in NYC in 2000, when the largest amount of petitions ever was gathered (up to that point,) and days before the first national mobilization gathering in Washington DC. He would then serve on the board of directors for Jubilee USA for a number of years.

He also recited his poems of justice several times at Occupy Wall Street in NYC in 2011, and to kick off worldwide March Against Monsanto In Union Square, NYC In 2014. Lamont received a Guinness World Record in 2014 for his poetry recital part in the Longest Officially Released Recording by Mike Peters of The Alarm, to help foster peace between Muslims, Christians and Jews in The Holy Land, and to benefit Love Hope Foundation, and those fighting cancer.

Lamont has three books of poetry and nine album CD/digital download releases. His latest book Words Ripped From A Soul Still Bleeding: Poems For The Future Edition is a great success, and is available at Barnes And Noble and Amazon as a paperback, or as an eBook, and all his albums are distributed by The Orchard and can be streamed on Spotify and Apple Music.
